Snowday?!?!

Wouldn't it be great if we had a snowday tomorrow? The first snow of the year is supposed to happen, but it's only supposed to be a wet inch or two, so I'm not hopeful. That doesn't mean I won't turn on the news tomorrow morning just in case, though.

Thanksgiving vacation was lovely. Went down to PA with Connor. Saw the folks and some of the more extended family. Got to see dani and Chuck and dani's increasingly adorable nephew. Ate a lot of delicious food. Slept. Relaxed. Mmmmm.

Then we came back, I went back to work, and it was just as though I'd never left. And not in a good way. More in the insanely busy, insanely stressful way. I feel like my job has turned me into a generally grouchy and unpleasant person. I use up all the pleasantness I have for my kids and then I just snap at everyone else for the rest of the day, and that's not really OK. It's not the kids' fault either that I'm stressed. They've been great! People who are stressing me out, you know who you are. I'm sending you dirty looks over the internet RIGHT NOW.

Laura came over Friday night. We went out to Yoshi's and then watched Mission Impossible III on Netflix. I couldn't bring myself to go in the theaters because Tom Cruise was being such an enormous turd at the time (especially about the whole southpark thing). So I figured now that he got fired anyway and it's on video and I'm just renting, it's OK. It was a fun and entertaining action movie... and Laura had the ENTIRE plot twist figured out almost immediately, which I was impressed with.

Danielle has been so kind as to regale us with reviews of her favorite TV shows, so I thought I might do the same, since at this point this blog is essentially an email to, well, dani.

Monday Night:
Heroes: Connor got into this one first and then I joined him. It is fun, although I do fear it's going to quickly go the way of Lost in that the writers will lose sight of where they're taking the plot. I like the comic book look/style aspect. The only character I really can't get into is the indian guy who's trying to continue his father's work. He's just not charismatic enough to make me care. I like the sleazy politician (from Judging Amy!) and Hiro the best.
Studio 60: I don't want this show to get cancelled. I think it's pretentious and over the top, but I still enjoy it and I think it needs time to come into its own. And the acting is REALLY good! I'm loving the cast and I think the cast chemistry works really well, and although he's being too Sorkin-ey, Sorkin is a good writer. I've been enjoying this show more and more, so I hope NBC will give it a chance.

Tuesday:
House: I just JUST started watching this show. I haven't seen any of the past seasons. I've seen maybe 4 episodes of this season. And I feel like I'm prepared to say that it's currently my favorite hour drama. It seems like the show's at a particularly interesting turning point right now anyway, but I am just really enjoying the "medical mysteries" and the characters, even if they do terrible terrible unethical things.

Wednesday:
Lost: Not currently an issue, as it won't be on again until FEBRUARY. I don't feel like talking about this show cause it makes me mad.
Top Chef (II): This show sucks. Why do I watch it? Pretty much to fill the void left by Project Runway.

Thursday:
The Office: So funny!
Scrubs: Yay! It's back! JD is such a jerk!
30 Rock: I can't really put this on the list... I haven't committed to it yet. I've only seen it once. But I plan on giving it a few tries, since it's on after Scrubs and seems promising.

Friday:
Avatar - The Last Airbender: Season 2 just ended. This definitely wins as my favorite show in all categories. Seriously. Say what you will. This show is friggin' awesome. I'm still emotionally recovering from the season finale.

Sunday:
Venture Brothers: In between seasons right now, but very funny.

Monday through Thursday: The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. I love that man.

I've never even heard of this Avatar show. When/where is it on? Not that I have time for another show...

It's on Nickelodeon. The season is over now, though. It's a cartoon...
